  • HP NetServer LM (D2182)

  • Peacock 80486/PENTIUM EISA xPress
  • NCR 3416
  • NCR 3406

Known issues:

  • DALLAS RTC coin cell empty

The motherboard's Real-Time Clock (RTC) chip contains a coin cell that may have drained, causing the loss of CMOS settings. This can result in an inability to save settings, causing system instability or failure to boot. To fix this, the RTC chip can be replaced with an equivalent or repaired by cutting into it and soldering on a new external coin cell holder. Replacement guides are available at https://github.com/necroware/nwX287 or https://github.com/necroware/nw12887, depending on the actual chip used.

Notes:

This entry is for the 8-slot xPress boards with SCSI

Intel boards:

Deskside/MX Premium:

PBA 540374 (XBASE8TE8F-C)

PBA 614727, 621053 (XBASE8TE16F-C)

Deskside/LX (with SCSI):

PBA 540374 (XLXBASE8TE8FS)

PBA 614727, 621053 (XLXBASE8TE16FS)

*1 BIOSs - These were labeled "xPress LM" there is no "xPress LM", only Netserver LM. No idea what "Cortez" means. They do all have SCSI BIOS so this should be the correct board. YMMV, don't brick your machine -mR_Slug

CPU: A dual Pentium 66MHz processor card is available, most cards are single processor.

SMP: "A new version of the Xpress 8-Slot baseboard incorporates an Adaptec 7770 dual-channel SCSI controller onto the baseboard. All eight EISA slots now will be bus-masters and the new board will now support Symetric Multi-Processing. This board will come in two versions: a SCSI version for the Deskside/MX (PBA 540374-007 and BIOS 1.00 11.AM0) and a non-SCSI version for the Xpress/LX (PBA 519800-007 and BIOS 1.00 08.AK0, switching to 1.00 12.AK0 in August). "
