AMD SP5100

A versatile Southbridge designed to complement AMD's server Northbridges, integrating essential I/O, communication, and other features for advanced server platforms into a single device. Some of the key features of the SP5100 include:

CPU Interface: The SP5100 supports AMD OpteronTM server class processors, including those in Socket F (Barcelona, Shanghai, and Istanbul series), Socket G34, and Socket C32.
A-Link Express II Interface: Offers a flexible 1 / 2 / 4-lane A-Link Express II interface with dynamic detection of lane configuration, providing high data transfer bandwidth of up to 2.5 Gb/s per lane to connect with AMD Northbridges.
PCI Host Bus Controller: Supports PCI bus at 33 MHz with PCI Rev. 2.3 specification compliance, accommodating up to 6 bus master devices and supporting 40-bit addressing. It also provides interrupt steering for plug-n-play devices and BIOS/hardware support to hide PCI devices.
USB Controllers: The SP5100 features 5 OHCI and 2 EHCI Host controllers, supporting 12 USB 2.0 ports and 2 dedicated USB 1.1 ports. It includes ACPI support from S1 to S5, legacy keyboard/mouse support, and a USB debug port. Individual port disable is also supported.
SMBus Controller: Compliant with SMBus Rev. 2.0, the SP5100 supports SMBALERT # signal / GPIO and provides 24 channels of interrupts in IOAPIC/X-IO APIC mode.
DMA Controller: Equipped with two cascaded 8237 DMA controllers, the SP5100 supports various DMA modes, including PC/PCI DMA, LPC DMA, and type F DMA.
LPC Host Bus Controller: The LPC interface supports LPC-based super I/O and flash devices, with two Master/DMA devices supported. It also provides support for TPM version 1.1/1.2 devices and SPI devices.
SATA Controller: The chipset supports six SATA ports with transfer rates up to 3 Gb/s, complying with SATA 2.5 specification. It supports both SATA 1.5 and SATA 3.0 compliance devices and operates in Legacy Mode using I/O space or AHCI mode using the Memory space.
IDE Controller: The SP5100 supports a single PATA channel with various modes, including PIO, Multi-word DMA, and Ultra DMA 33/66/100/133.
High Definition Audio: The chipset includes support for high-quality audio, featuring 4 independent output streams and 4 independent input streams with multiple channels of audio output per stream. It supports up to 4 codecs, 192 kHz sample rate, and 32-bit audio.
Timers: The SP5100 is equipped with 8254 compatible timer, Microsoft High Precision Event Timer (HPET), ACPI power management timer, and a watchdog timer.
Power Management: The chipset is compliant with ACPI specification 3.0, supporting various power management schemes, including C1e, C2, C3, and C3 pop-up. It supports wake-up events for S1, S3, S4/S5 generated by different pins and devices.
Hardware Monitor: The SP5100 provides hardware monitoring support for voltage sensors, fan control, and digital TSI to AMD3 processors. Note that temperature monitoring is NOT supported.
